Baby | Danru Pretorius

I'm just doing a quick post today.. Couldn't resist !!  Meet my little nephew, Danru.  Defenitly many more posts of him to come.. :-)  I think he is the most photographed baby on earth.. When he is around my camera is always out.  Well, this little guy already has 2 teeth (and 2 on the way) AND he started to clap his adorable little hands the past weekend !!  He's so cute.. I call this post in Afrikaans "Handjies en Tandjies".. Doesn't work that well in English but it means little hands and little teeth.

Photo club | March

Two months a go I joined the Vanderbiljpark photo club.  We gather every third Friday evening of the month.  This is really inspiring and educational. Every month has a different month subject and you are allowed to enter a photo in this category. Then there is an open category where you can enter any photo you took.  This month's subject was "Movement" and here is the photo I entered :

I took this photo in June 2010 during your tour to Israel & Egypt.  This I took in Cairo one morning from our bus on the highway !   My dad suggested I should name this picture "Milk in motion".  Notice the bike driver's/milk man's helmet right above the front wheel of the motor cycle !!  A sight we will never see in South Africa.  If you look really close you will see that this Egyptian is wearing a dress on his bike!  This is what I absolutely LOVE about travel, all these strange and funny sights.. Just adores it..

A month ago my friend Charlene and I went to visit the Johannesburg zoo.  While I was taking pictures of the crocodiles eating lunch, this little girl tried to get my attention to take a photo of her, but I was so focused and caught up capturing the crocs that I didn't even notice her.. Charlene luckily saw what was happening and said that I should take a photo of the little girl. I only took this one photo and when I downloaded it on my computer I saw, but hey I really like this and I entered it at the photo club.  I got a certificate of merit.  Aren't these natural and "in the moment" photos just lovely ?  I named this photo - "Innocence"...

This male lion I took in the Kruger National Park during one of our visits.  (Click here to view live web cams in the Kruger National Park). We saw this male with a female lion right next to the road. Was awesome to see these animals  "face-to-face" in the wild and realise how fantastic God's creation is.  Notice the scars on this lion's face..

I was a little nervous to enter this picture.  I took this last year during one of our church weekends at Ebehaezer (on a farm close to Vryburg in the Northen cape). Never the less I got a gold certificate for this.  Glad I took the risk ! :-)

This time it was the Van der Merwe kids (see their pictures here) parents' photo session posing with a really exiting, handsome, BRAND NEW Harley Davidson motorcycle !  Wow this is so amazing.. I'm not really one for speed, but if I didn't wore a dress that day I would definitely took a ride with Johan.  And I would make sure he drives not more than 80km/hour.. I'm really REALLY afraid of speed !!  Johan and Karin looked awesome with their biker outfits and I wish them a lot of fun on the road.

Obviously the 4 kids didn't stay home !!  No no, they are too exited for that.. So here is a sneak peek of pictures that I took of them with the Harley..  More to follow soon.. :-)

Kids | Van der Merwe'tjies

I spent a Sunday afternoon with the Van der Merwe kids.. What fun we had together !   I was amazed how creative these kids can be and actually learned a few things from them..  Little Hanjo made me laugth until I almost cried.. He is only 5 years old, but o boy that little man's got an imagenation that is bigger than the world !  His facial expressions just tells you a whole story..  Zante (the only girl between the boys) are a big animal lover and you can see that she loves her kitty, Gismo..  The older boys (Wiandre and Bossini) were also big sports and are such attractive young men. Girls watch out for them !

As I previously mentioned, the Van der Merwe kids (see some of their previous pictures here) didn't stay home when we did the shoot for their parents and their Harley Davidson motor cycle. (see pictures here) Oh no !! They wouldn't miss this for the world!  And once again I was amazed by their creativity and imagination.
